Environment Canada issues cold warning for parts of New Brunswick

Environment Canada has placed parts of northwestern and central New Brunswick under a cold warning.

Wind chill values will be close to minus 35 overnight Sunday and again early Tuesday said the warning, with temperatures moderating during the day Tuesday.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk but young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors and people without proper shelter are more vulnerable, said the warning.

Environment Canada said it recommends dressing in layers including an outer, wind resistant layer and keeping emergency supplies in vehicles. It said if it’s too cold for people, it is too cold for their pets.

“Cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia,” said Environment Canada.
