Snow, ice pellets, freezing rain in the forecast for much of the Maritimes

Special weather statements are in effect for the majority of the Maritimes, warning of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain.

New Brunswick

Environment Canada says “a variety of wintry precipitation” will likely affect much of New Brunswick Tuesday night.

“While it is too soon to provide specific details, the potential exists for significant amounts of snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain. The heaviest snowfall should mainly affect northern communities,” the statement reads.

Power outages and icy road conditions may also be possible.

Nova Scotia

Special weather statements are in place across northern and eastern mainland Nova Scotia.

Wintry precipitation is expected to intensify Tuesday night and continue Wednesday.

The statement says significant amounts of both ice pellets and freezing rain are possible.

Freezing rain warnings may be issued closer to the messy weather’s arrival.

Prince Edward Island

Similar conditions are also expected on P.E.I.

Special weather statements in place across the island that say there may be the potential for significant amounts of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain.

“Rapidly accumulating snowfall may create hazardous travel conditions. Even small amounts of freezing rain on untreated surfaces can make travel difficult,” the statement reads.
