A cold front combined with a weak low-pressure system out of the U.S. Midwest will bring rain and showers to the Maritimes Friday night and Saturday. Communities in northern New Brunswick will be first in the rain with a soggy Friday evening expected. By the mid-to-late evening hours, most of the province will have a chance of showers. Rain and showers will be widespread overnight. The wet weather arrives for Prince Edward Island and northwestern areas of Nova Scotia early Saturday morning. The rain will clear east through the afternoon but will be followed by some spotty showers and flurries. Rain amounts are not expected to be high enough to cause issues. Most of the Maritimes will finish with a few to several millimeters. Pockets of 10-to-20 mm possible in New Brunswick. Temperatures will cool as the front, and associated wet weather, move through the region. Daytime highs on Saturday will be four to nine degrees for New Brunswick, five to seven degrees for P.E.I., and seven to 11 degrees for Nova Scotia. High-pressure returns Saturday night, clearing the sky and leading to a sunny Sunday. Daytime highs on Sunday will be eight to 12 degrees, only cooler for P.E.I. and eastern Nova Scotia where many communities will only reach three to seven degrees. The next round of rain for the Maritimes is expected on Monday.
