New interchange in Bridgewater, N.S., expected to improve traffic flow

A new interchange in Bridgewater, N.S., is expected to make driving safer and improve traffic flow.

The new Exit 12A connects to the Bridgewater Business Park and to about 50 hectares (125 acres) of land for development on the north side of the highway.

The project includes a new diamond interchange at Exit 12A, the replacement of the St. Phillips Street overpass bridge and auxiliary lanes connecting Exit 12A and Exit 13.

“This new interchange is transforming transportation in Bridgewater and is making life easier and safer for the community. We are boosting access to local businesses and paving the way for a vibrant future with seamless connectivity to Highway 103,” said Anita Anand, federal minister of transport.

The new interchange opened on Friday.

Construction work on the projected started in the summer of 2020.
