Following an Easter weekend that saw multiple weather systems move in and through the Maritimes, another one is headed for the region Tuesday into early Wednesday. It’s a low-pressure system that developed over the Great Lakes. The low will move into the northeastern U.S. before passing south and east of Nova Scotia. A mix of snow and rain will reach southwestern Nova Scotia Tuesday afternoon. Snow for the province Tuesday evening and night. Lighter snow and flurries in southern New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. The snow clears eastern Nova Scotia early Wednesday morning. The Annapolis Valley, North Shore, Eastern Shore, and Cape Breton could pick up some snow amounts of five-to-10 cm. The remainder of Nova Scotia, Bay of Fundy area of New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island up to five cm of snow. Given the time of the year expect the amount of snow that collects to be quite varied depending on the surface it falls on with more melt on paved surfaces. A large area of high pressure is expected to follow for Wednesday through Friday. That should give the Maritimes a sunnier finish to the week. Temperatures will be improved Thursday and Friday as well with the daytime highs reaching high single digits and into the low-teens.
