Man injured after crane on boom truck hits power line, causes outage in Bedford

CTV Atlantic: Worker injured after boom truck hits A man is injured and roughly 500 Nova Scotia Power customers are without electricity after an extension on a boom truck hit a line.

HALIFAX -- A man was injured and thousands of people were without power in a Halifax neighbourhood after a crane hit a power line Thursday morning.

Nova Scotia Power says a boom truck with a crane attached to it hit the line in Bedford around 7:30 a.m.

The company says roughly 3,200 customers lost power.

Const. Pierre Bourdages of Halifax Regional Police says a 48-year-old man was on the crane at the time and received an electric shock.

Bourdages says the man was conscious when paramedics arrived and was taken to hospital, although his condition is not known.

The utility's website says power was mostly restored by 11 a.m., however about 500 customers would have to wait until around 4 p.m. for their lights to come back on.
