The crowd was awash in red and white on the rooftop patio at Edmonton’s Canadian Icehouse on Thursday afternoon. That’s where men’s national team supporters The Voyageurs hosted a watch party as Canada easily handled Qatar 6-0 in Group B action during FIFA World Cup at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium. And the weather cooperated during the game, the sun shining for the 4 p.m. MT match in between periods of cloud and rain in the area. The Voyageurs are staging World Cup watch parties for Canadian men’s national team games in cities across the country. The Canadian Icehouse is one of several places across Edmonton hosting watch parties for all the action at this year’s FIFA World Cup, which is being hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States. Canada’s game Thursday against Qatar is the second of three group matches it will play over the tournament. It opened its slate of games last Friday in Toronto in a 1-1 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina. Canada returns to action on Wednesday in Vancouver against Switzerland.
