A 21-year-old man from Fredericton died following a single-vehicle crash near Oromocto, N.B., Friday evening. Oromocto RCMP responded to the single-vehicle crash on Route 2, under the overpass for Route 7 in Haneytown, N.B., at approximately 7:52 p.m., said a police news release. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene as a result of his injuries. Police said they believe the eastbound vehicle lost control, left the road and struck a concrete pillar. One lane was closed on Route 2 but it has since reopened. Oromocto Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, Maritime Road Development Corporation and a member of New Brunswick’s coroners office all attended the scene of the collision. Police ask that anyone with dashcam footage of the incident or vehicle prior to the crash contact Oromocto RCMP. An RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation and an autopsy is being conducted to determine the man’s exact cause of death.
