A skydiver says he had a “near-death” experience when he suffered a seizure and briefly lost consciousness at nearly 2,800 metres above the ground.

YouTube user Nomadic Adrenaline’s video of his terrifying mid-air moment last year has gone viral online, with more than a million views since it was posted on Sunday.

The skydiver says in the video’s description that he was attempting to complete a left-hand turn midair when he had a seizure that sent him free falling unconscious for approximately 30 seconds.

“Possibly the scariest moment of my life,” the YouTube video description explains. “On the 14th of November 2014 while doing stage five of my Accelerated Free Fall program I have a near-death experience.”

In the two-minute video, the skydiver is seen spiralling in the air, thousands of metres above the ground. He appears to lose control over his body and starts convulsing. When his jumpmaster finally approaches him, he grabs him and pulls the ripcord at approximately 1,200 metres above the ground. The jumpmaster's head cam captured footage of the rescue.

The skydiver said he regained consciousness at approximately 915 metres and managed to land safely.
