FREDERICTON - Athletes from across New Brunswick are participating in the province's Indian Summer Games.
The Eel Ground First Nation is hosting the five-day event, which runs until Aug. 1 in and around Miramichi.
Up to native 900 athletes from 11 Mi'kmaq and Maliseet communities across the province are expected to compete in a variety of sports.
The province is providing $20,000 for the event.
The games also celebrate aboriginal culture and heritage with a parade of athletes, shawl dancers and drumming groups.
