More granola and energy bars are being recalled, along with flavoured sunflower seeds, over fears they may be contaminated with Listeria.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency lists several new products that have been recalled because of concerns about the sunflower seeds in them.

The earlier recall of Quaker Harvest brand Quinoa Granola Bars - Chocolate Nut Medley and Quinoa Granola Bars – Yogurt, Fruit & Nut has now been expanded to include all lots and all Best Before dates.

In addition, all lots of two flavours of Spitz brand sunflower kernels are being recalled as well: regular Salted and Dill Pickle flavour.

As well, CLIF Bar & Company is recalling certain lots of CLIF Bar Sierra Trail Mix Energy Bars with Best Before dates of 2016JN06 up to and including 2017FE23.

There have been no reported illnesses in Canada from any of the products. Quaker says its recalls are being issued “out of an abundance of caution.”

All of the recalls were issued after one of their ingredient suppliers, SunOpta, was found to have distributed sunflower seeds that may be contaminated with Listeria.

Consumers should not eat the recalled products but instead thrown out or returned to the store where they bought them for a refund.

Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms of listeriosis can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

Symptoms usually begin about three days after eating contaminated food but the illness can incubate and take as long as 70 days to cause symptoms.
