Grammy Award-winning singer Sam Smith may have a licence to sing the title song for the next James Bond film, "SPECTRE."

The British musician hinted at connection with the Bond franchise in a photo posted, without accompanying comment, on his Instagram page. The close-up photo shows a hand wearing a silver-coloured ring emblazoned with the seven-armed octopus symbol of S.P.E.C.T.R.E., a villainous secret society in the James Bond novels and films.

The image was posted on Monday.

If Smith is performing the title track, he'd be the second consecutive Brit to lend his vocals to the Bond theme, after Adele was featured in "Skyfall" in 2012. Adele's performance won her the 2012 Academy Award for Best Original Song, along with several other nominations and awards.

Prior to Adele, the last U.K. act to sing a Bond title song was Duran Duran for "A View to a Kill," in 1985.

"Spectre" hits North American theatres on Nov. 6, 2015.
