Winnipeg police to start wearing body cameras next week

Winnipeg Police will start wearing cameras on June 10 as part of a pilot project.

Police say over the next six months, 40 frontline officers will be equipped with the cameras.

The officers will use the cameras during regular duties, including responding to calls for service, calls they initiate, enforcement and investigations.

The WPS says they will get feedback from the community on the pilot through public forums and a survey.

Police say privacy considerations are built into the program.
