Winnipeg police make pair of arrests following inappropriate interactions with teens online

Winnipeg police have arrested two men following separate investigations involving interactions with teens online.

Police began investigating the first incident in January after receiving reports of a 41-year-old man interacting with two teens inappropriately, investigators said.

The man used the username Moon Beam on a social media site talking with the teens.

Police said on Sept. 8, those teens went to the man’s house where he gave them drugs and alcohol and sexually assaulted them.

Then on Sept. 25, police said one of the teens received explicit materials from the man on social media.

Following an investigation, police arrested a 41-year-old man on Jan. 30 in the 100 block of Paramount Road.

He has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and sexual interference, as well as having child pornography for the purpose of publication and transmit sexual material to a person under 16.

The second incident started in October 2025, when a teen was contacted on social media by someone with the username MANITOBAW.

Police said the teen eventually met the person running the account. Investigators said the teen was sexually assaulted during the meet.

On Feb. 1, a 24-year-old man was arrested in the 100 block of Saddler Avenue.

He has been charged with two counts each of sexual assault, sexual interference, and obtaining sexual services from a person under 18, as well as one count of luring a person under 16 by means of telecommunication.

Both men remain in custody.
