A Muslim youth organization’s Winnipeg branch continued the giving holiday spirit on Friday. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association launched Holiday Dinner on Wheels nationwide and Winnipeg is certainly part of it. The association’s Winnipeg group hit downtown, handing out around 100 pizzas to the community. “We’re Muslims and it’s part of our beliefs to give back to the community, help out the less fortunate – and what better time to do that than in the holiday season?” said Taha Chaudhry, one of the participants in the event. The group holds various campaigns such as food drives and Canada Day barbecues, Chaudhry explained the group’s yearly effort. He said the group has a shared belief in community growth. “We all have that shared belief, that we want to make Canada a better place and we want to spread our positivity and kindness as part of our faith and our religion.” Mainly hitting Main Street, Chaudhry said the community response was moving and thankful. “I wish we could have more food to give out because there’s still lots of people out here that need help.”
