Winnipeg lifts residential parking ban

The City of Winnipeg issued more than 5,500 tickets during the residential parking ban for snowclearing.

The City of Winnipeg has lifted the residential parking ban.

As of Tuesday evening, the annual winter route parking ban is back in place, which prohibits drivers from parking on designated streets between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. daily.

The residential parking ban was in place from Sunday morning to Tuesday night to allow crews to clear residential areas of snow and ice.

According to the city, more than 5,500 parking tickets were issued during the residential parking ban. However, no courtesy tows were conducted.

The city reminded residents to watch out for temporary no parking signs, which are put in place when snow clearing operations need the full width of the roadway.

Anyone parked in violation of these signs may be ticketed or towed.

Winnipeggers can report streets that were missed during snow clearing by contacting 311. Crews will address any missed streets in the coming days.
