With temperatures set to soar this week, the city has announced when Winnipeggers looking to beat the heat can start splashing around in municipal spray pads and pools. According to the city, crews began opening many of the splash pads for the season on Monday. The remainder will be open by Friday, with the exception of Boyd Park, which is slated to welcome visitors July 2. Most spray pads operate daily from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. until Sept. 7, the city said. As for outdoor pools, the city anticipates opening heated outdoor facilities on June 19 with the exception of Fort Garry Lion, which will open June 26 alongside city-owned unheated pools. All outdoor pools will be open daily, weather permitting. Meanwhile, wading pools will open on a staggered basis beginning July 1, the city said.
