What’s open and closed on Remembrance Day in Winnipeg and Manitoba

Remembrance Day is coming up on Tuesday, marking a time to honour those who served our country.

Due to this federal holiday, many city services and businesses will be closed or operating at reduced hours.

CTV News has compiled a list of service and business hour changes in effect for Tues, Nov. 11.

Liquor Stores

Winnipeg, Brandon and rural Liquor Mart locations will open at 1 p.m. on Tuesday with various closing times between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Malls

C.F. Polo Park, Outlet Collection Winnipeg, Garden City Shopping Centre, and St. Vital Centre will be open from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Kildonan Place will be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Grant Park Shopping Centre will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Attractions

The Manitoba Museum is closed on Remembrance Day.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is offering free admission for military personnel, veterans and four family members.

Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

City services

All City of Winnipeg administrative offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Tuesday.

Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on Tuesday. It will also offer free transit service to armed forces veterans and current serving personnel, as well as one companion.

All Winnipeg Public Libraries will be closed on Tuesday.

The Brady Road Landfill and Brady 4R Winnipeg depot will both be open on Tuesday. The landfill will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., while the 4R depot will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Pacific and Panet 4R depots will both be closed Tuesday.

All indoor pools and fitness and leisure centres will be closed on Tuesday, with the exception of the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex, which will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; the Margaret Grant Pool, which will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; and the Pan Am Pool, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Animal Services Agency will be closed on Tuesday.

Brookside, Transcona and St. Vital cemeteries will be open Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, the administration office at Brookside will be closed.

Garbage and recycling collection does not take place on Remembrance Day. Residents whose regular collection day falls on Remembrance Day should put their carts out one day later for only this week.
