The face of Folklorama for the past 40 years has officially been given a name. Folklorama announced on social media that the llama has been named Atlas. “Atlas represents exploration, connection, and cultures from around the world,” the social media post reads. “Just as an atlas helps you discover new places, our llama invites you to discover the incredible cultures, traditions, and experiences that make Folklorama so special.” Folklorama held a naming contest in June to finally give a name to the mascot of the cultural event. Hundreds of submissions were shared before the organization settled on Atlas. The 55th Folklorama Festival gets underway on Aug. 2 and runs until Aug. 15.
