Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said no tornadoes were reported in south-central Manitoba on Wednesday evening despite two rounds of warnings. ECCC issued a red tornado warning around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday for the RM of Hanover, which covers the areas of Steinbach, Niverville and Grunthal. “This is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation,” ECCC said in the warning. The warning was lifted shortly after 9 p.m. The first round of tornado warnings started around 6:30 p.m. and included RM of Roland the RM of Morris and later expanded to include the RM of Macdonald and the RM of De Salaberry. This comes a day after ECCC confirmed three tornadoes touched down in Manitoba on Tuesday. The first was seen east of Manitou, while the second and third were spotted south of the Carman area. ECCC did receive reports of a fourth tornado near Dauphin, but said there isn’t enough evidence at this time to confirm it happened.
