Heat warnings are spreading further across Manitoba on Tuesday, as hot, humid conditions take over much of the province. The alerts, issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), continue for all of southern Manitoba and now extend into central and northwestern regions, including Norway House and Flin Flon. Many areas will see hot highs this afternoon in the upper 20s or low 30s, with humidex values in the mid to upper 30s. Conditions are similar in northwestern Ontario Tuesday, where a heat warning also remains in effect. On both sides of the provincial border, most regions will see sunshine or a mix of sun and clouds. The threat of thunderstorms is highest from northwestern to southeastern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario late this afternoon and early evening. That said, ECCC’s thunderstorm outlook assesses the weather risk in those areas as minor. Ahead on Tuesday night, the skies over southern Manitoba will be mostly clear, although haze is possible. Don’t expect relief from the heat—the overnight lows will only drop to the low 20s. Then brace for even hotter conditions on Wednesday, particularly in Winnipeg and the southeast. Scorching temperatures as high as 34 C are on the way.
