New contest encouraging Winnipeggers to visit Roblin art pieces

A new contest is raising awareness about local artists and helping a centre that protects abused children.

One local organization is encouraging Winnipeggers to check out a new art installation with the launch of a contest.

On Monday night, Take Pride Winnipeg kicked off a competition to get people out to see “Bison on the Boulevard” – an art installation on Roblin that includes more than two dozen colourfully painted bison made from concrete.

As part of the contest, Winnipeggers are asked to take selfies with the bison for the chance to win prizes. There are 26 bison, which means 26 chances to win.

After taking the selfie, participants must share their photo on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #BisonOnTheBlvd. They also must tag Take Pride Winnipeg and the Toba Centre for Children and Youth.

Prizes include a one-night stay at Lakeview Hecla Resort, a signed Adam Lowry jersey, a $250 gift card for Assiniboine Park, a $100 gift card for the Gates on Roblin and more.

CTV News previously reported “Bison on the Boulevard” was created in support of the Toba Centre, an organization that provides a space for children and families who’ve been impacted by abuse to find comfort, healing and resources.

The contest is open until midnight on Sept. 30. Winners will be drawn on Oct. 1.
