Most power outages have been restored following a colossal storm earlier in the week that led to widespread destruction and flooding. In an update on Thursday night, Manitoba Hydro said repairs are now complete on all the major outages in Winnipeg and southern Manitoba. It added that crews will work on the remaining outages, which are impacting about 245 customers, on Friday. The Crown corporation goes on to say that the storm aftermath is “persistent,” noting that damaged equipment and fallen tree branches could still result in power disruptions in the coming days. “Damage this extensive and outages so numerous and widespread from summer storms is rare,” Hydro said in a news release. “Manitoba Hydro mobilized all available resources to respond and will continue to face challenges from damaged equipment and flood-affected roads. “ Hydro thanked customers for their patience, noting that anyone with damage to their electrical mast will need to have it repaired by an electrician before power can be fully restored. CTV News previously reported that at its height, the storm knocked out power to about 25,000 Manitobans.
