Mounties are investigating what they say was a failed arson attempt at a business in rural Manitoba. Officers were called at 2:40 a.m. on October 10 to respond to a commercial alarm on Road 6W in the RM of Morris, RCMP said in a media release. When they arrived, officers saw a front-end loader had driven into the building’s front door. While getting a closer look, officers said they smelled the strong odour of diesel fuel. They then saw, on pallets loaded onto a forklift, jerry cans filled with diesel. “Upon closer inspection of the area, it appeared that someone had tried to light the building on fire but was unsuccessful,” the release said. Those with information are being asked to call the Morris detachment at 204-746-2323 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
