Ottawa police are asking parents to carefully inspect their children’s Halloween candy after a sewing needle was allegedly found in a chocolate bar. Investigators are looking into a report of a needle found inside a chocolate bar collected on Halloween. Police say an incident was reported to police on Tuesday after a parent discovered the needle in a chocolate bar. The candy is believed to have been collected in the areas of Prince of Wales and Chinatown, according to police. A police spokesperson couldn’t provide any other details on the possible locations, saying “that is as specific as the complainant could be.” No injuries have been reported. “As a precaution, OPS is encouraging parents and caregivers to carefully inspect their children’s Halloween candy before it is consumed,” police said. “Check packaging for signs of tampering, including small holes, tears or broken seals.” If you discover suspicious candy, you are asked to contact 613-236-1222, extension 7300.
