'Heavy Metal' penny drive locations

The Royal Canadian Mint will stop distributing the penny this fall.

Winnipeg is among cities participating in a charity event raising funds at retirement homes for Winnipeg Harvest.

“All Seniors Care is making ‘Heavy Metal’ the sound of choice amongst Winnipeg’s grandparents. The residential organization is currently collecting pennies in celebration of Grandparents and the iconic coin.  All four Winnipeg residences run by All Seniors Care are participating in the effort in support of Winnipeg Harvest,” said officials in a release.
