Merv emerged from Oak Hammock Marsh on Monday and saw his shadow, signaling a continuation of the wintry weather and freezing temperatures. Across the rest of the country, Ontario’s Wiarton Willie and Quebec’s Fred la Marmotte have forecasted an early spring. Today’s scheduled appearance of Nova Scotia’s Shubenacadie Sam was cancelled due to severe winter weather. No matter the results, spring officially begins on March 20.
