Regina Thunder fans were loud and proud as they watched the team trounce the Calgary Colts 40-10 on Thanksgiving Sunday. The bout was a rematch of last week’s regular season game at Leibel Field. “I thought we played really good. We had definitely a bitter taste in our mouth after last week. They beat us last week so we were definitely mad,” linebacker Owen Effa said after the game. “[We] knew if we played our best game that we could win and that’s what we did.” The team was undefeated until last week’s 46-30 loss against the Colts. Effa said the reason for their victory goes to the defence. “Our defence played really well the whole first half. Offence dominated the second half,” he said. “We knew if we just stuck with it, did our jobs every play and not worry about the last play, but worry about the next one that we would win.” Despite it being a long weekend, fans filled the bleachers to cheer the team on. The Regina Thunder will face the Saskatoon Hilltops in the CJFL and Prairie Conference (PFC) final on Sunday, Oct. 18 at Libel Field at 1 p.m.
