Manitoba saw another day of record-breaking heat on Monday. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, five communities started off the week with their hottest July 13 on record. This includes Gretna and Emerson, which both bested their previous 46-year-old records, with temperatures of 35.1 C. Gimli recorded a high of 33.8 C, beating its old record of 32.2 C set in 1964. Both Oak Point and Shoal Lake set record highs of 30.6 C – up just over one degree from their previous records set in 1975. These numbers come one day after seven Manitoba communities, including Carberry, Grand Rapids and Portage la Prairie, saw their hottest-ever July 12.
