A wildfire has destroyed several buildings, including two homes and two apartment complexes, in Manitoba’s Lynn Lake after the blaze entered the community on Sunday night. Mayor Brandon Dulewich said the fire came at the town from every direction, with the area experiencing “unprecedented” wind speeds. He added that firefighters managed to contain the flames to the first block of the town, adding that no one was living in the structures that burned down. “We fought those structure fires and several little pop-up fires and managed just to keep it with those structures,” he said in an interview with CTV Morning Live on Tuesday. “But it was all hands on deck, and we fought the fire until the sun came up.” There was some rain and lower temperatures in the community Tuesday morning, but that could change at any moment, Dulewich said. “If we get some sunshine and some wind, it is still lurking right on the edge of town and ready to wake up and come back into town,” he said. The mayor thanked the “brave” firefighters from Brandon and Morris who helped the local firefighters to keep the destruction to a minimum.
