Escaped suspect captured by police dog two weeks later: Manitoba RCMP

A Manitoba man who had been on the run for over two weeks after breaking out of an RCMP cruiser has been arrested.

Roberto Easter, 30, was arrested by Chemawawin RCMP on Monday after escaping from RCMP custody on July 21.

RCMP said a police dog located him in a shed in the community, and he was taken into custody.

Easter was originally arrested on Airport Road on July 21 on a charge of breaching conditions of a release order. He was handcuffed and placed in the back of a cruiser.

RCMP said a 28-year-old woman known to him approached the cruiser and helped him escape.

Easter has been charged with escaping lawful custody and three counts of failure to comply with a release order. None of the charges have been proven in court.
