Convicted sex offender released from custody, expected to live in Winnipeg

A convicted sex offender is expected to live in Winnipeg after being released from custody.

The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Offender Unit announced that Glen Gregory Tyler Pozniak was released from Bowden Institution on Wednesday. He was convicted in 2015 and sentenced to 13 years in prison with credit for time served for charges of sexual exploitation, sexual interference and child pornography offences against several minor victims.

Police said Pozniak is considered a high risk to re-offend in a sexually violent manner against both pre-pubescent males and adolescent males.

Upon release, Pozniak is prohibited from consuming alcohol and drugs, cannot be in the presence of children under the age of 16 unless accompanied by an adult, and is also prohibited from contacting his victims.

He has also received a lifetime prohibition from attending public parks or swimming areas where children under 16 can be expected to attend. Pozniak is also banned from seeking or continuing employment that involves being in a position of trust or authority towards people under the age of 16.

Police said the information is being provided to allow the public to take suitable measures to protect themselves but said vigilante activity towards Pozniak will not be tolerated.
