Some much-welcomed sunshine has returned to Manitoba on Thursday after a string of soggy September days around the province. Expect abundant sunshine, light winds and pleasant seasonal daytime highs in the upper teens across the south, including Winnipeg and Brandon, this afternoon. All regions across northern Manitoba will also enjoy sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud on Thursday. South winds will strengthen across the northwest, while stronger, gustier northwest winds are expected in the northeast. Daytime highs will reach double digits, except for the northernmost areas that will be held to single-digit temperatures this afternoon. Further east, northwestern Ontario will see the sun come out after a cloudy start to the day on Thursday. Afternoon highs will reach the mid to upper teens in light winds. Overnight lows across Manitoba will be warmer than the last couple of nights, so there is no frost risk to speak of. In Ontario, folks in Dryden will want to cover their plants with a forecast low of 2 C and a risk of frost there. While we can definitely ditch the umbrellas Thursday, get ready to use them again on Friday in southern Manitoba. Showers are most likely in the southwest, but there is also a good chance that showers will reach Winnipeg and the southeast Friday afternoon.
