This week is getting off to a soggy start across southern Manitoba on Monday. Showers and non-severe thunderstorms are moving across the region, including Winnipeg, this afternoon. The soaking is courtesy of a trough of low pressure slumping southward from Hudson Bay, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Daytime highs across the south Monday will be a bit cool for mid-June, only reaching the low 20s. The normal daytime high for this time of year is now closer to the mid-20s. Temperatures will catch up on Tuesday. Further east, the chance of showers is lower in northwestern Ontario, but still possible. Otherwise the region will see a mix of sun and clouds and a high around 21 C Monday. Meanwhile, a stubbornly stalled low over Hudson Bay will spread rain and showers to most, but not all, of northern Manitoba on Monday. Most of the shower-soaked communities will only see highs around 11 C or 12 C, while a pocket of sunshine will open up over Flin Flon and The Pas on the way to a windy high of 18 C. Seasonal temperatures will return to the south on Tuesday. Winnipeg is forecast to reach a mostly sunny high of 24 C, the normal daytime high for the city for this time of year.
