Now that the cooler, seasonal temperatures have returned southern Manitoba, another inevitability is on the way—snow. Back-to-back low pressure disturbances are expected to bring showers and wet snow to the region Tuesday. Precipitation could move into the south as early as this afternoon, but it is more likely to show up by this evening. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), much of the southwest will see rain mixed with wet snow, including Brandon and Dauphin. Winnipeg, the Red River Valley and the rest of the southeast will most likely see showers. Precipitation in some areas could last until Wednesday evening. ECCC said 4-8 cm of snow is possible in the Parkland region, but much of it will melt in mild temperatures. Areas further south, including Winnipeg and Brandon, will see drier conditions return Wednesday, with more of a mix of sun and cloud expected. Further east, northwestern Ontario will likely see rain showers or flurries by Tuesday afternoon, earlier than in Manitoba. Central regions from The Pas to Norway House could see light snow or rain overnight into Wednesday. Light snow and then rain will reach Island Lake on Wednesday. Northern Manitoba will enjoy sunshine and unseasonably mild highs above the freezing mark Tuesday.
