Chair of Winnipeg Police Board resigns

Coun. Markus Chambers has resigned from his position on the Winnipeg Police Board.

A city councillor has resigned from his position with the Winnipeg Police Board.

The board announced Monday that Coun. Markus Chambers (St. Norbert-Seine River) resigned from the board, where he served as chair, on Oct. 1. A reason for the decision was not given.

“The Winnipeg Police Board extends its appreciation to Councillor Chambers for his dedicated service to the board and the community,” a statement from the police board read.

Vice-chair Colleen Mayer will fulfil Chambers’ duties until City Council appoints a new chair.

Chambers has served on the police board since 2018.
