The quarterback of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers had a lighthearted message after his work duties resulted in him missing the wedding of his former college roommate. Zach Collaros, who was roommates in college with Travis Kelce, had to miss Kelce’s wedding to pop megastar Taylor Swift on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Collaros was unable to attend as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers were on the road in Hamilton to play the Tiger-Cats. In an interview ahead of Sunday’s game, Collaros had a light-hearted message for the couple. “I talked to them the other day and said, ‘You guys could’ve looked at the damn schedule,’” he said. The Blue Bombers themselves got in on the fun, posting on X, “Bombshell: Groomsman skips wedding of the century.” Collaros shared his disappointment in missing the wedding and said declining was not something he wanted to do. “I was bummed because Travis came to all my stuff; we had engagement parties and bachelor parties up here, so that makes it tough,” he said. “You can speak to any football player; part of the deal is that you miss events like that… It’s not a normal job where you can take a couple of days off and make up your work on the fly. You’ve got to play a game, so that’s always been tough, missing friends’ weddings, family weddings, family events, that kind of stuff. It’s never easy for sure.” Collaros left the game Sunday with an injury but surpassed Khari Jones in career passing yards to sit in second place in franchise history.
