Charlie Kirk mourned in Winnipeg candlelight vigil

Thousands of people gathered outside the Manitoba legislature for a vigil for Charlie Kirk.

Winnipeggers gathered at the legislative building on Tuesday night to honour Charlie Kirk – a prominent U.S. Conservative activist who was shot dead last week.

More than a thousand people, many adorned with American flags, supportive signs and Charlie Kirk t-shirts, filled out the lawn of the legislature to take part in candlelight vigil.

The memorial included prayers and tributes to Kirk, who was best known for his rise from conservative campus activist to top podcaster and ally of President Donald Trump.

Kirk was shot and killed on Sept. 10 during a speaking event at university in Utah.

Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged with aggravated murder in connection to Kirk’s death.

None of the charges against Robinson have been proven in court.
