Canada Post is taking measures to ensure residents of a northwestern Manitoba town receive their mail as nearby wildfires impact their mail and parcel delivery. Since July 10, the Crown corporation has been offering up to 12 months of free mail forwarding services for residents and businesses of Lynn Lake. Residents have until Aug. 10 to register. Canada Post explains that once registered, mail will be shipped to the new address selected by the customer. Residents can sign up online or at a post office. Canada Post notes that it will provide refunds to any Lynn Lake residents who bought the mail forwarding service between June 28 and July 10. CTV News previously reported that encroaching wildfires forced the town to evacuate at the end of June. As of July 3, the mandatory evacuation order has been rescinded. As of July 13, there are 131 wildfires burning in Manitoba, with two considered out of control.
