Eight suspects have been arrested in connection with a house raid in the King Edward area and are now facing multiple charges, according to Winnipeg police. In a news release, police said they began an investigation in December into drug trafficking at a home in the 300 block of Rutland Street, learning there could be firearms inside. On Jan. 14, officers, police dogs and drones executed a search warrant at the home. They seized a loaded .22 calibre rifle, a loaded .40 calibre handgun, 25 rounds of ammunition, two sets of bow and arrows, four grams of cocaine, 13 grams of crack cocaine, Percocet pills, 11 cell phones, scales and packaging material, and $10,000 in cash. Police said three males from Winnipeg aged 14, 18, and 22, face 14 charges, including firearms, weapons, and proceeds of crime offences. A 27-year-old woman also faces drug trafficking and proceeds of crime charges. Three of the suspects were released on undertakings to appear in court, and the 22-year-old was detained in custody. Another Winnipegger, this time a 17-year-old, is facing 20 charges related to firearms, weapons, identity fraud and various undertaking and release order breaches. He was detained in custody. Three men from Calgary, Alta., aged18, 23, and 25 years old, are also facing a multitude of firearms, weapons, drug trafficking offences. They were detained in custody. None of the allegations have been tested in court.
