Windsor to see sunshine today before wet weather moves in overnight

Windsor-Essex is set for a warm and mostly sunny start to the week, before showers and thunderstorms move into the region overnight and persist through midweek.

Environment Canada says fog patches dissipated this morning, giving way to mainly sunny skies. Southeast winds of 30 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h, are forecast, with a high of 20 C. The UV index is expected to reach 8, or very high.

Conditions will turn wetter tonight as showers begin near midnight. There is a risk of a thunderstorm overnight, with rainfall amounts between 10 and 15 millimetres. South winds will strengthen to 40 km/h, gusting to 60 km/h. The overnight low will be 15 C.

Showers are expected to taper off Tuesday morning, followed by cloudy skies and a 60 per cent chance of additional showers. There remains a risk of a thunderstorm in the morning and early afternoon. About five millimetres of rain is forecast. Winds from the south will continue at 40 km/h, gusting to 60 km/h, with a high of 20 C. The UV index will fall to 5, or moderate.

A mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent chance of showers is expected Wednesday, with a high of 13 C.

Clear skies are forecast Wednesday night, followed by sunny conditions Thursday and a high of 13 C. A mix of sun and cloud with a chance of showers is expected Friday.
