A member of the Windsor Police Service is facing sexual assault charges Tuesday following alleged off-duty incidents. According to a news release, Const. Ali Karhani faces two counts of sexual assault in relation to off-duty incidents that involved alleged inappropriate physical contact. The charges follow an investigation conducted by the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit. Karhani, who has served with the police service for six years, has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the judicial process, in accordance with the Community Safety and Policing Act of Ontario. “The Windsor Police Service recognizes the seriousness of these allegations and remains committed to transparency and accountability to the community we serve,” the release said. Police say that because the matter is now before the court, and to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
