Windsor home severely damaged in fire, crews cite lack of working smoke alarms

Damage is estimated at $600,000 and seven people have been displaced after a house fire in Windsor.

According to Windsor fire, there were no working smoke alarms on the property.

Crews were called to the scene in the 1000 block of Oak Street Sunday afternoon.

When they arrived, firefighters said they encountered thick fire, heat, and smoke on the second floor of the home.

At its peak, 25 firefighters were on scene battling the blaze that extended from the second floor into the attic.

The fire was brought under control, and the utilities were shut off for safety purposes.

Paramedics, police, and Enwin Utilities also attend to assist.
