Suspects sought after downtown assault

Windsor police are searching for downtown assault suspects.

Windsor police have issued an arrest warrant for one suspect and are looking for a second related to an assault at a downtown business.

Shortly after 3 p.m. on March 14, officers responded to a report of an assault at a store in the 500 block of Ouellette Avenue.

Through investigation, officers say learned that a woman initially attended the business, made a purchase, and left. A short time later, she returned with a male suspect, claiming she had received the wrong product.

Police say a verbal altercation ensued between the suspects and an employee.

During the incident, the male suspect allegedly began throwing and damaging items in the store. Polie say both suspects then assaulted the employee, with the man using an item from the store to strike the victim multiple times.

The employee sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit has identified the male suspect as Jerome Findleter, 37. An arrest warrant has been issued for Findleter on the following charges:

• Assault with a weapon
• Assault
• Mischief under $5,000

Findleter is described as a black male, 5’8” tall, with a dark complexion, slender build and dreadlock-style hair.

The female suspect remains unidentified. She is described as a black female, approximately 30 to 45 years old, 5’4” tall, with a medium build, and black hair. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a grey sweater, beige toque, blue jeans, and black-and-white running shoes.
