Search continues for missing individual in Chatham

Police in Chatham-Kent say a search is underway for a missing person in the area of the Third Street Bridge.

In an updated release issued Monday, the Chatham-Kent Police Service said it is actively investigating a report involving a missing individual.

The coordinated search effort includes aerial and marine support from both Chatham-Kent police and the Ontario Provincial Police, along with marine assistance from Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue and ground support from the Emergency Response Team.

Officers were seen combing the Thames River earlier in the day, and police say the investigation remains ongoing.

No additional details have been released, as police cite privacy concerns for those affected.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service says it appreciates the community’s support and understanding, and will provide updates as appropriate.
