Public feedback wanted on climate change adaption solutions along Lake Erie

The Pelee Coastal Resilience Committee is looking for public input as it is working to create climate change adaption solutions along Lake Erie.

Four open houses will be held by the committee on June 24 and 25. Two will be in Colchester, while the other two will be in Leamington.

The open houses will be as follows:

• June 24: Colchester Community Centre in the Community Room at 100 Jackson Street from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• June 24: Colchester Community Centre in the Community Room at 100 Jackson Street from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• June 25: Leamington Municipal Office in the Council Chambers at 111 Erie Street North from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• June 25: Leamington Municipal Office in the Council Chambers at 111 Erie Street North from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Pelee Coastal Resilience Committee came together in 2023 after funding was received from Environment and Climate Change Canada. The County of Essex, local municipalities, and local conservation authorities also contributed financially.

It then was given a mandate from Natural Resources Canada’s Climate-Resilient Coastal Communities Program to create an action plan for the Pelee Coast.
