OPP investigate after injured woman found in Harrow neighbourhood

Heavy police presence in Harrow after a woman was taken to hospital reportedly 'covered in blood.' CTV’s Bob Bellacicco has the details.

An unusual discovery for a Harrow resident early Monday morning as an elderly woman was found injured and alone in a residential neighbourhood.

OPP have been on scene trying to piece together what happened.

Officers blocked off a section of the neighbourhood around Murdoch Street and Arthur, asking the community to avoid the area if possible.

“We had a report of an individual that had some injuries so police responded,” said OPP Const. Stephanie Caron.

The cordoned off area increased to include a longer section of Murdoch Street.

CTV News spoke with a resident who didn’t want to appear on camera, but say he stepped out at 4 a.m. for a run, when he noticed a lady at the stop sign down the street. He says she was disoriented, full of blood and asking for help.

Trevor Gagnon says he assisted the woman to the side of the road and sat her down before going to the house to call for help.

He says paramedics and police were quick to respond.

Another neighbour described to CTV News seeing what looked like blood found on the side of a white car.

OPP began canvassing the neighbourhood.

“We have in the area of Murdoch Street and I believe Arthur Street as well so we have officers in the area canvassing. We also have our ident team in the area as well due to the ongoing investigation,” said Caron.

Police say they don’t know how long they’re going to be on scene.

“That’ll continue to evolve as time goes on,” says Caron.

OPP say they cannot tie what was found on the car, to the woman who was taken to hospital.

“We do know that the individual was transported to hospital to be medically assessed and from that point on we’ll know more as it evolves,” she said.

The identity, extent of injuries and current status on the patient is unknown as the investigation continues.

Provincial Police say there is no threat to public safety and wants the community to avoid the area if possible.
