More red light and speed enforcement cameras to be activated. Here’s when and where:

More red-light cameras will be active starting Monday in Windsor.

The City of Windsor is rolling out two initiatives to help reduce drivers running red lights and speeding.

Both red light cameras and automated speed enforcement cameras are part of the city’s Vision Zero aspirations.

“Red light cameras and automated speed enforcement cameras are proven tools for improving intersection safety and road safety in key areas of the city. By deterring dangerous driving behaviors, they help reduce collisions, lower severity of collision injuries, and save lives,” said city engineer David Simpson.

Red light cameras

Two more new red light cameras will officially begin live operation starting Monday, Sept. 22, 2025. This brings the number to 16 of the 20 red light cameras approved by City Council to date.

The newly activated camera intersections are as follows:

• Lauzon Parkway and Tecumseh Road East
• Lauzon Parkway and Lauzon Line

The remaining four red-light camera locations are planned to be commissioned before the end of 2025.

Automated speed enforcement cameras in school zones

City officials say red light cameras are separate and should not be confused with automated speed enforcement (ASE) cameras. ASE cameras help reduce speeding and improve safety across the city.

The initial ASE program rollout will begin in December 2025, with prioritized enforcement at five school areas located within designated school zones or community safety zones:

• Cabana Road East (Howard to Holburn)
• Clover Avenue (McHugh to Tecumseh Road East)
• Huron Church Road (Millen to 180m north of Tecumseh Road West)
• Forest Glade Drive (Lauzon to Wildwood)
• Conservation Drive (EC Row Avenue to Calvert)

Speeding fines in these zones are doubled under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act. Advanced notification signs have been posted to notify drivers of these future ASE enforcement zones.
