Local EQAO results released for 2024-2025 school year

Local EQAO testing results have been released for local school boards.

Each year, students in grades 3, 6, 9, and 10 are tested. Grades 3 and 6 are tested on math and literacy, students in grade 9 are tested on math, and students in grade 10 write the Ontario Secondary Schools Literacy Test (OSSLT).

Greater Essex County District School Board

Grade 3

In reading, 73 per cent of Grade 3 students met the provincial standard, level three or four. This is a three per cent increase from the 2023-2024 school year.

In writing, 64 per cent met the provincial standard, the same as the previous school year.

In math, there was a three per cent increase for meeting the provincial standard, bringing that number to 62 per cent.

Grade 6

For Grade 6 students, 86 per cent met the provincial standard for reading, up five per cent from 2023-2024.

85 per cent of students met the standard for writing, an increase of six per cent.

In math, 51 per cent met the standard, the same las the previous school year.

Grade 9

The overall achievement for Grade 9 students was 57 per cent in math, an increase of six per cent.

Grade 10

In Grade 10, 81 per cent of first-time test takers for the OSSLT passed, an increase of one per cent.

48 per cent of repeat test takers were successful, up three per cent.

Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board

According to the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB), students passed the provincial standard in seven categories of EQAO.

Grade 3

In Grade 3, students surpassed the provincial standard by five per cent at 79 per cent.

In writing, students reached 71 per cent success, compared to the 65 per cent provincial standard.

In math, 72 per cent of students were successful, meeting the provincial standard.

Grade 6

Grade 6 students also saw great success during EQAO testing.

In reading, 92 per cent of students surpassed the standard. The standard was 86 per cent.

93 per cent of students passed the average in writing, up eight per cent.

In math, 60 per cent of students passed the provincial average, which was 51 per cent.

Grade 9

Grade 9 students fell just behind the provincial standard at 57 per cent, compared to 58 per cent provincially.

Grade 10

94 per cent of first-time OSSLT test takers passed, compared to the provincial average of 85 per cent.
