Windsor police have charged a 32-year-old man with impaired driving after he was allegedly found unresponsive behind the wheel following a crash in east Windsor. Officers responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of Walker Road and Ducharme Street shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Police learned that one of the vehicles had collided with another vehicle while stopped at a traffic light. At the scene, officers say they found the driver unresponsive behind the wheel, with his foot on the brake and the vehicle still in drive. Officers say they observed signs consistent with drug impairment and located drug paraphernalia and suspected drug residue inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested and taken to Windsor Police headquarters, where he failed a drug recognition evaluation. The 32-year-old man has been charged with: • Impaired operation of a conveyance (drugs) • Dangerous driving • Driving while suspended • Operating a motor vehicle without insurance • Using a plate not authorized for the vehicle Anyone with information is asked to contact the Windsor Police Traffic Enforcement Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 7032.
